The Social Club for Single People

Questions that we are frequently asked...Answered for you.

Q. What kind of people will I meet at your events?

A. Other single people with a similar outlook to yourself, who also want to meet new friends and enhance their social life. We have a varied mix of friendly people and ages.

Q. Do members come to events on their own?

Yes, most of members come to our events on their own. However it's not long before they have made a couple of friends that live near to them, they then start to share a taxi or take turns to drive to events together.

Q. Why do I pay a membership fee?

The membership fee that we ask you to pay is very important to us. It greatly helps towards the high administration and advertising costs involved in running The Club. Advertising is expensive but necessary to ensure that you will always have the opportunity of meeting new single people and making new friends.

Q. Can I come and try an event before paying the membership fee.

A. We do not 'trial events' as this would be unfair to all the other Members who have already paid their membership fees. As we offer a wide variety of venues and events on such a regular basis we are confident that your membership fee will be a good investment.

Q. I have never been to a dining club before and I feel nervous, what will happen when I arrive?

A. All our evenings are hosted and from the second that you arrive at the venue you will be greeted and introduced to someone straight away. Once you get engrossed in conversation I can guarantee that you will forget any nervousness and enjoy the friendly company.

Q. How do I know that the members are single?

A. We send the our company literature to each applicants home address and contact them using their home telephone number. If people are not willing to have our information sent to their home address, or to provide their home telephone number we then decline their request for membership.

Q. Do you cater for vegetarians?

A. We always provide a vegetarian option.

Q. What happens if I don't like the person I am sitting next to?

A. If you are unhappy with the person next to you because thay have said something to offend you, then please go and speak to our host in a discreet manner and you will be diplomatically moved to another table. At Heart to Herts our policy is to never to allow any of our Members to accept rudeness or bad behaviour from anyone. If you are just unimpressed by someone who is sitting with you then please be patient. We always move our dinner guests after the main course to change the dynamics on the tables, so you will not be with them for long anyway. It is generally the men who are asked to move around after the main course.

Q. What is your smoking policy?

A. We ask members to please refrain from smoking at the dining tables. This is for the comfort of the other members who do not smoke. If you are a smoker that's fine, and usually there is a designated area (usually this is the bar area) at each venue where you can go. Each restaurant or hotel has their own smoking rules which we ask you to abide by.

Q. What are the ratios of men to women at each event?

A. We try to balance the numbers of men to women as best we can at all of our events and usually acheive somewhere near to this. However we are primarily a social dining club and not an introduction agency. If your sole concern is to find a long term partner then a one to one personal introduction agency may be more suitable for you.

Q. How often do you hold your singles social events?

A. We usually hold two to three events each month.

Q. How many people usually come to each dinner evening?

A. Our dinner evenings vary in size depending on the venue, usually we have between 20 to 36 people at each dinner. We find that if the groups are too large they can become a little impersonal. We also like to seat people on tables of 6 or 8 as opposed to using one long table.

Q. What is the dress code at your events?

A. Smart casual. For men we ask that they wear a suit, or a pair of smart trousers with a jacket. Black jeans are acceptable but please no blue denim or trainers! After all you only get one chance for a first impression.

Q. What is the average age of your members?

A. 25-55.

Q. Why should I choose Heart to Herts?

A. We have a lot of experience and expertise to apply, and above all, we value our clients.

We hope that this page has helped in your decision to join us and hope to meet you soon!
